Carl H. Place

On December 28, 2016 Carl H. Place left his worn and tired earthly body to join his parents and deceased brothers, Benjamin and John and sister, Louise, to walk with the Lord. Carl was born to Irvin and Margaret (Howe) Place on January 24, 1938 in New Bedford, MA. He joined the Air Force where he was stationed in Germany as an aircraft electrician. His working career brought him to Collins Electric in Chicopee, where he started as a lineman and continued his employment there until retirement in 2008.

Carl enjoyed nature and all its beauty. He was an avid birdwatcher who every year waited for his bluebirds to arrive in his yard.  He enjoyed sitting in his home watching the world go by and enjoying the hummingbirds outside his windows. He was a peaceful, loving father and man and will be missed terribly.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his daughter Susan Nickerson and her husband Robert; his son Keith Place and his wife Teresa; his former wife and very close companion Marcy Mascaro; his loving grandchildren David, Joe and Grace Nickerson and step-grandchildren Madeleine Manley and Janine Yawson. He also leaves his siblings: Arthur Place and his wife Sally, Earle Place and his wife Beverly, Franklin Place and his wife Marian, Margaret Sowle, Alice Cornell and her husband Steve, Betty Cornell, June Vaughn and her husband Roland, Joann Puchala and her companion David, Kathy Philips and her husband Jim; his sisters-in-law Geraldine Place and Barbara Place and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Ludlow Country Club, 1 Tony Lema Drive, Ludlow MA followed by a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Please bring your cherished memories to share.
