Emilia M. “Emily” (Nowak) Novak, 96, passed away April 20, 2017 at Noble Hospital, Westfield surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ludlow, MA, she was the daughter of the late Walter J. and Katarzyna (Szlaga) Nowak. Emily grew up in Indian Orchard where she attended the Immaculate Conception School. She spent her adult life in Thompsonville, CT and had lived in Westfield since 1985. She worked as an inspector for Hamilton Standard and was a member of the Hamilton Standard Retiree Club. Emily loved Polka music and dancing. She attended many dances at Pulaski Park and the Ludlow PAC where she enjoyed commiserating with friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph S. Novak, Sr.; her special friend Frederick Kucharski; brothers: Fred, Edwin, and Bronislaw Nowak; sisters Sonia Nylander, Julia Novak, and Evelyn Nowak and a nephew, Peter Wierciak.
She leaves her son Joseph Novak, Jr. and his wife Dorothy of Plantsville, CT; grandchildren Jeremy Novak (Amy Champagne) and Amy Garvin (Gary); nephew Richard Novak (Barbara) of Springfield; niece Joanne Pittelkow (Robert) of Spring Hill, FL, as well as many other family members including Cynthia Attanasio (Al) of Spring Hill, FL and Deborah, Christine, Zachary, Nicholas, Steven, Rosalyn, and Preston.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017 with a Calling Hour from 9:30–10:30 a.m. at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Indian Orchard followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m at Immaculate Conception Church, Indian Orchard. Burial will follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Belmont Ave., Enfield CT.
