Emily C. “Millie” (Burza) Pagos, 84, a long time resident of Indian Orchard, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center after a long illness. Emily was born Aug. 17, 1932 in Wilbraham to Frank Burza and Sophia Orszulak Burza. She was preceded in death by her sister Genevieve Burza (Sr. Mary Leontine) and her brother John who died in infancy.
Emily graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield and worked as a bookkeeper for most of her career. She was a member of the Polanie Club and was a former parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church in Indian Orchard. She enjoyed dancing and Polish music. She also cherished family events with her cousins and their families.
She is survived by her cousins, Helen and Sandy Starczewski of Wilbraham and Daniel Stark of New Hampshire, along with their children, spouses and friends. Emily will be remembered for her “Golly” contagious laugh and sweet disposition.
Funeral Services for Emily will be on Friday, Feb. 3 with a Calling Hour from 11am-12noon at Nowak Funeral and Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield with a Prayer Service at 12noon at the funeral home officiated by Rev. Fr. Stanley Sokol. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Indian Orchard.
