Emma J. “Terry” (Marshall) Skarzynski, 86, passed away November 9, 2016. Born in Chicopee to the late William N. and Emma (Cadieux) Marshall, she was a lifelong area resident. Emma was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Church and most recently of Holy Cross Church in Springfield where she was an honorary member of Just Faith. She enjoyed playing cards, (she was called by her family the “Queen of Rummy”), playing Yahtzee, being at the ocean and collecting seashells. Most especially, Emma was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Theodore Skarzynski; a brother, William N. Marshall Jr. and 2 sisters, Mary and Rosa Marshall. She leaves a daughter, Diane Wood; a son, Thomas Skarzynski and his wife Karen; 3 grandchildren: Amy Sarlan, Melissa Wood and Adam Skarzynski and his wife Lisandra; her best friend and sister-in-law, Irene Skarzynski; many cousins, including Lorraine Currier, and also many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 assembling at 8:30 a.m. at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield and proceeding to Holy Cross Church, 221 Plumtree Rd., Springfield for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Agawam at 11:00 a.m. Calling hours will be Monday, November 14, 2016 from 3:00-6:00 p.m.

Emma's family would like to thank the staff of Wernick Adult Day Care at the Jewish Geriatric Center and also Mercy Hospice for the compassionate care given to her.
