Frederick J. Lysik, 93, passed away May 8, 2016 at Wingate at Wilbraham. He was born in Ludlow to the late Roman and Sophie (Wojtowicz) Lysik, and was a lifelong Ludlow resident.
Frederick was a proud veteran of WWII serving in the 326th Army Air Force Base Unit and achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was the past owner of the Ashmere Inn, Choinard’s Restaurant, the Pleasant Snack Bar and the Tropicana Lounge. He was an avid Yankees fan which fueled a friendly rivalry with his family and friends who are Red Sox fans. He invented the “Radish Manhattan” at the family’s favorite restaurant, Lido’s, and he loved polka music.
Frederick was predeceased by his wife Rita (Supernaw) Lysik; his son Frederick Lysik Jr. and his brother-in-law Kenneth Supernaw. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters Valerie Goncalves and husband George; and Jacqueline Jablonski and husband Joseph; sister Jane Swienton; niece Charlotte Swienton; sister-in-law Dolores Supernaw; grandchildren Christopher Goncalves and Ashlee Goncalves-Korny and husband Nicholas; and great-grandchildren Aiden and Lilee Goncalves and Abigayle and Madelyn Goncalves-Korny.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 12, 2016 with family and friends gathering at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield at 9:00 a. m. and proceeding to Christ the King Church, 41 Warsaw Ave., Ludlow for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a. m. Burial will follow at St. Aloysius Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, May 11 from 4:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m.
