Helen Antonia (Slonka) Sorcinelli, 97, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center. Born in Wilbraham to the late Frank and Antonia (Kasa) Slonka, she was a lifelong Ludlow resident. She had worked as a machine operator for U.S. Envelope. Helen was an active member of Christ the King Church in Ludlow and was a member of the Daughters of Christ the King and the Bingo Committee. She enjoyed knitting and sewing, cooking, going to the casino and was an avid Red Sox fan. Most especially, Helen loved her family and her beloved grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Evo Sorcinelli and a daughter, Marcia Ramsey.
She leaves a daughter, Diane LaVigne and her husband Kenneth of Springfield; 3 grandchildren, Marissa LaVigne (Jorge) of Chicago, IL, Gregory LaVigne of Springfield and Michael LaVigne of Springfield; her son-in-law Douglas Ramsey of Boxford and her caregiver of many years, Helena.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Care One at Redstone for the compassionate care given to Helen.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 with Visitation from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Indian Orchard and proceeding to Christ the King Church for a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Aloysius Cemetery.
