Janice (Gardner) Stetson

Janice Eileen (Gardner) Stetson, age 80, took God’s hand, with her children by her side, on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 and followed Him home.  Janice was born in Springfield, MA on August 28, 1934, daughter of the late Percy and Eileen (Mahoney) Gardner.  Janice, a lifelong resident of Springfield, leaves five beloved children:  Daniel Stetson and his wife Diane of Springfield, Nancy Hand and her husband Kevin of Springfield, Tammy Lamy and her husband Robert of Brimfield, Laurie Stetson of Springfield, Donna Stetson and her husband Jarrett Saunders of Amherst. Janice also leaves her sister, Grace (Gardner) Bartosz of Chicopee and is predeceased by 3 sisters (Millie, Kay, and Alice) and a brother (Eugene). Janice’s pride and joy were not only in her children but her grandchildren:  Eileen, Kevin, Andrew, Eric, Keith, Erin, Melissa, Matthew, Michael, Emily, Ryan, and Kendra and her great grandchildren: Keisha, Conner, Brayden, Logan, Riley, Mason, and Stratten. She also leaves behind several loving nieces and nephews. Janice worked as a housekeeper for Kendall Commons from June 1983 until he retirement in 1999.  She was a devoted employee and received several commendations for Employee of the Month as well as earning Employee of the Quarter for her willingness to lend a helping hand to the residents and their special needs.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Church in the Acres, 1383 Wilbraham Road, Springfield, MA. 01119. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in one of two ways:

1.  Donate to a charity of your choice in Janice’s name or,
