Jean Cinq-Mars, 79, of Springfield, peacefully passed December 12, 2016. Jean’s beloved husband Michael Cinq-Mars was at her side, holding her hand as he has done for the entire 64 years of their marriage. Jean was born in Westfield, she was the oldest daughter of the late Jenny (Kaminski) Barnet.

After marrying and raising her five children, Jean worked at the Springfield Surgical Center on Maple Street. Later she owned and operated Landscaping & Home Maintenance, Inc. along with her husband Michael. Jean loved to travel, she especially enjoyed time spent in Maine with Michael. Jean also loved caring for her home and garden. She loved music, dancing and power walking. Jean loved to read and was a lifelong learner, taking classes whenever she could.

Jean will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her adoring husband Michael Cinq-Mars and her children, Michael, Georgia, Cindy and Jean Marie and her much loved son Ronnie who predeceased her and who came to take his mother home. Jean loved and was proud of her grandchildren, Ami, Michael, Carly, Elizabeth, Grace, Jamie and Ashli and her great-grandchildren Scott, Katlyn, Matthew, William and Aiden. Jean was recently predeceased by her sister Ethel and leaves behind her loving brothers and sisters, George, Lyman, Thomas, Carole, and Georgianna. Jean was also predeceased by her sister, Geraldine and leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

For the last few years, Jean had been lovingly cared for by the staff at the Julian J. Leavitt Family Jewish Nursing Home in Longmeadow. Jean’s family, especially her husband Michael, are most grateful for their support and care.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Indian Orchard followed by burial at St. Aloysius Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
