John Lanucha, 89, passed away May 5, 2016 at Baystate Medical Center. Born and raised in Easthampton, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Moskwa) Lanucha. John proudly served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He retired from the City of Springfield Public Building Department in 1991 after 28 years as a glazier. John was a Springfield resident for many years and was a member of the American Legion Post 277 in Indian Orchard. He was an avid fisherman, especially deep sea fishing and enjoyed gardening, especially tending to his fabulous tomatoes.
He leaves his beloved wife of 61 years Jacqueline (Kowalik) Lanucha; his son John of Longmeadow; son Joseph and his wife Terri of Hampden; his brother Edward Lanucha and wife Marge of Easthampton; his grandchildren Joseph and Crystal Lanucha and numerous family members and friends.
Calling hours are Monday, May 9, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Indian Orchard followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 a. m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 25 Parker St., Indian Orchard. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Mayher St., Easthampton.
