John Sheridan Lee, Jr., 80, died peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2016 in Bluffton, SC.

He was the son of the late John Sheridan and Catherine (Gilmartin) Lee. John lived in Springfield all his life, moving to Bluffton in 2016. He graduated from Cathedral High School, attended STCC, and proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean Crisis. He retired from Monsanto Company (now Solutia) after many years. John enjoyed golfing, fishing, and all outdoor sports.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, James “Jim” Lee; his brother, James W. Lee and his infant sister, Mary Linda.

He leaves his wife of 56 years, Eleanor (Luczek) Lee of Bluffton, SC; his sons, John S. Lee III of Springfield and David Lee and his wife Kelly of Scituate, MA; his daughters, Linda Lee of Springfield and Carole Stapleton and her husband David of Methuen, MA; his sister, Catherine Nickel of Grand Rapids, MI and brothers, William Lee and his wife Claudine of East Longmeadow and Michael Lee and his wife Carol of Bluffton, SC; 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandsons, and many nieces and nephews; his brother-in-law Edward Luczek and sister-in-law Janina Luczek.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 assembling at 9:00 a.m. at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield and proceeding to St. Cecilia Church, Wilbraham for a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Rd., Springfield. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 577 Carew St., Springfield MA 01104
