John Robert Slowick

John Robert “Bob” Slowick, 92, of West Springfield, died Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home. Born in West Springfield on Dec. 31, 1924, he was the son of the late John F. and Mary (Szlachetka) Slowick. Bob was an Army veteran of WWII, stationed in France as a Chaplain’s Assistant. He worked in the family owned business, Associated Electric in Springfield. Bob was an accomplished organist, pianist and choir director at several local Catholic churches. He was also a guest organist at the cathedral in Nice, France during WW II.

Bob was the husband of the late Helene (Lynch), the father of the late Gregory Slowick, and the brother of the late Charlotte Daubitz, Edwin F. Slowick, Eugene R. Slowick and Richard J. Slowick. He is survived by a son, Brian Slowick of Westfield, a daughter, Cynthia Cekovsky, and two brothers, Frederick J. Slowick and Dr. James P. Slowick, both of West Springfield.

Funeral Services and Burial will be held privately by Bob’s family at a later date. Bob’s family wishes to thank the Governors Center in Westfield and the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home for their compassionate care, especially the staff at Comfort Care, 3rd floor at the Soldiers’ Home.
