Laura (Dyjak) Remiszewski, 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home, surrounded by the company of those who loved her. The daughter of Frank and Catherine (Nowak) Dyjak, Laura was born and raised in Indian Orchard and was predeceased by a sister, Irene; a brother, Mitchell, and her beloved husband Stanley Remiszewski.
While raising her family, Laura held various jobs, retiring from Mass Mutual Life Insurance Co. She remained an active member of the Immaculate Conception Church, participating in church events and singing in the church choir well into her 80’s. An avid reader, who still frequented the Indian Orchard Library, Laura greatly enjoyed traveling with her husband, trips to the beach, celebrating holidays and family gatherings, her garden and feeding her birds.
She leaves behind her sister, Barbara Wilber; her children: Catherine Lolos and partner Peter Ortega; David Remiszewski and wife Carol; Melissa Gazzaniga and husband James, and son Robert Remiszewski. She especially loved time with her grandchildren: Kate Gazzaniga, Sarah Gazzaniga and Kiley Remiszewski and great grandchildren Julian Ortega and Meliah Ramos.
Special thanks and gratitude to her loving caretaker Nelida Fontanez and to the nurses and staff at Baystate Hospice for their comfort and care.
Laura was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be remembered for her kindness, her warmth, and her love for life and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 with a Calling Hour from 10-11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 25 Parker St., Indian Orchard followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at St. Aloysius Cemetery.
