Louis Raschi, 97, died December 19, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born and raised in Springfield before moving to Longmeadow29 years ago.

Louis was a member of the International Laborers and was a member of Laborers Union Local 999 of Springfield. He worked for Daniel O’Connell and Sons of Holyoke. Louis was loyal and loving and generous, and his family came first.  He was multi-talented, the ultimate Mr. Fix it.  He was always ready with outstretched hands to come to the rescue of family and friends whenever his help was needed for anything at all.  He took pride in the beautiful home and gardens where he and Mary spent 42 years.  He single-handedly transformed their wooded side lot into a beautiful park setting with rock gardens, plants and flowers that was enjoyed by everyone that passed by.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 74 years, Mary (Del Pozzo) Raschi on March 11, 2017 and his cherished daughter, Barbara Pohl on March 10, 2001. He leaves his son-in-law, Eric Pohl; a niece, Janet Beucke (August); 3 nephews, Paul Raschi (Claudine), John Raschi and Michael Raschi (Laurie) and also leaves his devoted friends, George Saba and his wife Rosalie.

The family wishes to thank all the staff and residents of East Village Place in East Longmeadow for their excellent care, their kindness and support, particularly Maryanne Fesko, the nurse who helped our family so much through this difficult time and was so kind to Louis.

Private burial at Hillcrest Park Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.org/donate.
