Sophie (Chmael) Ambrose

Sophie (Chmael) Ambrose, 82, died May 11, 2017 in Lubbock, Texas while visiting family. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Bertha (Kordula) Chmael. Sophie was born, raised and schooled in Agawam and had lived in Ludlow for the past 48 years. She worked at Hamilton Standard in Data Processing for many years until she retired. Sophie loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her life, and also loved going to the casino. 

She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years James J. Ambrose, Sr., as well as six brothers and sisters.  She leaves her children Diane Cheney of Holiday, Fl, James Ambrose, Jr. and wife Gail of Lubbock, TX, Deborah Landry and husband Mark of Springfield, MA, and Michael Ambrose and wife Brenda Persinger of Pahoa, HI; her grandchildren David, Jr., Laura, Jeffrey, Cathleen and husband Chris, Nathan and wife Kelsey, Jacob, Valerie and husband Ryan, and Patrick; her great-grandchildren Summer, Noelani, Zachary, Justin, Savannah, Michael, Leah, James, Lucas, Peyton, Brooke, and Eli; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 18, 2017 with family and friends gathering at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield, at 9:00 a.m. and proceeding to Christ the King Church, 41 Warsaw Ave., Ludlow for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00  a.m. Burial will follow at Island Pond Cemetery, Ludlow. Visiting hours are Wednesday, May 17, 5:00-7:00 p.m.
