WILBRAHAM – Stanley A. Nowak died November 19, 2009 at Life Care Center of Wilbraham. He was born in Wilbraham to the late John and Angela (Gil) Nowak and was the husband of the Jeannette (Waszkiewicz) Nowak who passed away August 8, 2008. A 1940 graduate of Springfield Trade High School as a printer, he had worked at American Optical in Southbridge and Trade Composition in Springfield. Stanley served in the Navy during WWII and took part in the invasion of Normandy. As an Army reservist, he also served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Polish American Veterans Club of Wilbraham. A faithful communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Indian Orchard, he was a member of The Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima, The Apostolate of the Suffering and was a lector and director of The Rosary for 25 years.

He is survived by three brothers: John Nowak of Australia, Thaddeus Nowak of Chicopee and Eugene Nowak of Wilbraham; two sisters: Sophie Nowak of St. Joseph’s Residence in Enfield, CT and Mary Erazmus of Meriden, CT; a sister-in-law, Helen Waszkiewicz of Southbridge and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Monday, November 23, 2009 meeting at 10:00 a.m. at Nowak Funeral and Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield proceeding to Christ the King Church for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Rites of Internment with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. Visitation will be Sunday, November 22, 2009 from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
