Chester S. Jekot

Chester S. “Chet” Jekot, 76, of Monson, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017 at the Baystate Wing Memorial Hospital in Palmer. Born in Springfield on Aug. 5, 1941, Chet was the son of the late Albert & Sophie (Guzik) Jekot. He was born and lived in Indian Orchard until he moved to Monson in 1986. Chet worked for many years as an H.V.A/C Technician for Hallmark Cards in Enfield, CT and previously as a welder. He was a member of the Scantic Valley Antique Engine Club and formerly of the Drifters Hot Rod Club. Chet was an avid racing fan, and built and raced a car at Stafford Speedway in the 1970’s. He also enjoyed the racing at the Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH.

The brother of the late Thomas & Stanley Jekot, Chet is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lorna J. (Withers) Jekot, his son, Michael Jekot and his wife Barbara of Springfield, nephew, Donald Ladue, friends, Lawrence and Dale Bustillo, a sister, Sophie Sharon and her husband Phil of Natick, MA, a brother, Henry Jekot of Springfield as well as many nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours for Chet will be on Wednesday, Oct. 4, from 4-7pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield with a Prayer Service to follow at 7pm also at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
