George A. James, Jr.

George Alfred James, Jr., 83, passed away November 5, 2017 surrounded by his family. Born in Springfield to the late George and Ernestine (Colley) James, he was a lifelong area resident and was a graduate of Springfield College. George served in the U.S. Army. He retired as a correctional officer at Somers State Prison where he had worked for many years.

He leaves his children: Steven James and his wife Lisa of Wilbraham, Susan Maloney and her husband Paul of Greenfield, and Sharon Thompson and her husband Dwayne of Deltona, FL; 2 grandchildren, Collin and Cameron James, along with many other family members and friends. Committal services with military honors will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam.
