Georgette Marie (Albert) Castonguay

Georgette Marie (Albert) Castonguay, 86, passed away at home on August 6, 2018. She was born on November 27, 1931 in Fort Kent, Maine to the late Arthur and Georgina (Guerette) Albert. Georgette was raised in St. Hilaire, New Brunswick, Canada and had resided in Caribou, Maine until moving to Springfield, MA in 1967. She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Hope Church in Springfield. She retired from HP Hood in Suffield, CT in 1997. Georgette enjoyed puzzles and puzzle books and loved watching Steve Harvey faithfully each day at 4:00. A very caring person, she took time to help out her friends and neighbors. Most especially, Georgette loved spending time and playing cards with her beloved grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Vincent Castonguay; her son, Albert Castonguay; her sisters:  Lorraine Joseph, Anita Bilodeau, Gilberte (Jill) Branca, Jackie Tetreault and by her brothers:  Leopold Albert, Louis Albert, Aristide Albert, Philippe Albert and Marc Albert.

She leaves her children: Linda Sleeper of Springfield and her partner Dennis Cooney, Arthur Castonguay and his wife Verna of Ware, Janice Alfano and her husband Anthony of Westfield, Kathy Hoisington and her husband Robert of Ware, and Leila Morassi and her husband Michael of Granby. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield followed by interment at Oak Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 2:00-6:00 p.m.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Georgette’s home health aide, Maribel Hernandez, and also Trinity Hospice for the compassionate care given to her.
