Helen E. (Szala) Starzyk

Helen (Szala) Starzyk, 88, passed away peacefully on the 23rd of March, in East Longmeadow. Born in Amsterdam, NY, she relocated in 1960, when she married Theodore W. Starzyk, who predeceased her in 2003. She held several jobs in the area; most notably for the Springfield Public School System, where she served as a secretary for over 20 years. She was most proud of her work as a Dental Assistant for many doctors.  A communicant of St. Catherine of Siena, she sang in the choir there, and was active in charitable work. She loved gardening, and music, being a self-taught pianist and harmonica player.

She leaves her son, David, his wife, Kimberley, and grandchildren Liam and Finn, of Los Angeles, CA. As well as her daughter Geralyn, and granddaughter Gianna, both of Springfield. Special thanks to Lori Bissonnette, and Denise McGlaughlin for their help, concern, and love.

A Funeral Mass will be Tuesday March 28th at 11:30am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, with calling hours at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services in Indian Orchard immediately prior, from 9-11. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
