Helen (Adzima) Zaranek passed away at Wingate of Wilbraham on May 12, 2017 at the age of 92. She was born on a farm in Belchertown to her parents, Peter M. Adzima and Apolonia (Tenerowicz) Adzima. She was 13 when her father died and continued milking cows and running the farm with her mother and siblings. She married Stanley “Bummie” Zaranek, moved to Ludlow and together they ran Stanley’s Service Station in Indian Orchard until 1980. Helen was an avid gardener and well known for her dill pickles, zucchini bread and strawberry jam. She was a seamstress and enjoyed shopping.
She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Casmus Gubola, Julia Henrichon, Amelia Chlebus, Anna Ciecko and Peter J. Adzima. She is survived by a sister, Mary Pikul of Fort Pierce, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral for Helen will be on Friday, May 26th at 9am from Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield followed by a Funeral Mass in Christ the King Church, 41 Warsaw Ave., Ludlow at 10am and burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Indian Orchard.
