Irene T. (Teixeira) Alves

Irene (Teixeira) Alves, 94, entered into eternal rest on 7/15/2017. Irene passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a brief illness. Irene was a gentle soul, a devoted and loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed. Irene is survived by her beloved daughter Addie (Alves) McCormack and her husband Ken Kwasnik of Spring Hill, FL. Besides her daughter she leaves her cherished granddaughters Cristy (McCormack) Wassung and her husband Carl of Feeding Hills, MA and Sharon McCormack and her partner Pete Richardson of Gloucester, MA. Irene also leaves behind her precious great-grandchildren Steven McCormack, Lindsey and Jack Wassung. Irene is also survived by her brothers Tom Teixeira and his wife Dora of Holliston, MA, John Teixeira and his wife Terry of Ludlow, MA, Manny Teixeira and his wife Alice of Ellington, CT, and Charlie Teixeira and his wife Arleen of Ludlow, MA. Irene was predeceased by her husband Domingos Alves, her grandson Alan McCormack and three brothers, Antonio, Jack, and Joe Teixeira. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Irene was born in Ludlow, MA on 7/28/1922 to the late Maria (De Pina) and Manual Teixeiria. She was raised in Ludlow, MA and attended local schools. She worked for many years before retiring from Tambrands, Inc. in 1984. Irene resided in Indian Orchard for most of her life before moving to Feeding Hills, MA and to Spring Hill, FL. For those who loved her, it will be hard to imagine a world without her presence.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Avenue, Indian Orchard, MA on Thursday, July 20th for a Calling Hour from 9:30-10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Elizabeth's Parish, 191 Hubbard Street, Ludlow, MA at 11:00 am. Christian burial immediately following at St. Aloysius Cemetery, 1273 Berkshire Ave, Indian Orchard, MA.
