Jerome W. Foley

Jerome William Foley, 86, passed away April 23, 2019. Born in Holyoke to the late Michael Jerome and Rose Ann (Bumbera) Foley, he was a lifelong area resident. Raised in Holyoke, he was a 1949 graduate of Holyoke High School and was a Springfield resident for over 30 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.  Jerome was a store manager at several locations for Food Mart, where he met his beloved companion of 31 years, Mary Hurley. He was a former member of the Holyoke Jaycees. Jerome was an avid and talented woodworker. A generous person, he was a longtime sponsor of St. Jude’s and many other charitable organizations.

He leaves his children: Michael Foley of South Hadley and Linda LaRose and her husband David of Holyoke; 5 grandchildren: Sean Foley, Nicole LaRose, Matthew LaRose, Korri Flynn and her husband Brendan, Christopher Tessier and his wife Lauren; 5 great-grandchildren: Thomas, Ryan, Kellan, Kate, and Grant; his companion, Mary Hurley of Springfield and her daughters, Theresa Bergeron and her husband David and Beth Hurley; his honorary grandchildren: Samuel, Luciana, Myles, and NoraJane; a sister, Ann Nagy and her husband Pete of Holyoke; a brother, Francis Foley of Holyoke and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his former wife Bernice (Bunny) Foley in 2009 and his infant angel first granddaughter, Kristen Foley in 1974.

Committal service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 9:00am at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam MA 01001. Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services is entrusted with arrangements.
