John F. Dorey

John F. “Jack” Dorey, 61, of Ludlow, died Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Born in Springfield on July 27, 1955, he was the son of Ruth F. (Farrington) Dorey of Tierra Verdi, FL and the late John W. Dorey. Jack lived in the Forest Park section of Springfield for many years and had lived in Ludlow for the past 7 years. He attended local schools as well as Holyoke Community College. Jack was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked as a Springfield Police Officer and later for 30 years as a mail handler at the Bulk Mail Center. Jack was a member of the E. Longmeadow K. O. C. He was an avid golfer and member of Ludlow Country Club. He was also an avid hockey player and played in the Over 40, Over 50 and the post office hockey leagues. He enjoyed the beach and loved going to Myrtle Beach, SC. In addition to his mother, Jack is survived by his fiancée, Dawn Brown of Springfield, his former wife, Laurie Szymanowski of West Springfield, a brother, Martin Dorey of Somers, CT and Tierra Verdi, FL, his uncle, William J. Farrington and his wife Ethel M. of Wilbraham, his niece, Erin Dorey of Somers, CT as well as six cousins and his several circles of friends.
