John R. “JR” Setterstrom, 84, of Ludlow, died Thursday, March 7, at the Farren Care Center in Turners Falls. Born in Springfield on March 10, 1934, he was the son of the late Ernest & Evelyn (Schraeder) Setterstrom. John had lived in Ludlow since 1960 and worked as a machinist at the Springfield Armory and later at the Sweetlife Company in CT until he retired in 2003.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Irene K. (Wdowiak) Setterstrom, his sons, Eric Setterstrom and his partner Patricia Croteau of Sarasota, FL and David Setterstrom and his wife Jodie of Port Orchard, Washington, one brother, Raymond Setterstrom of California and his two grandsons, Michael and Mark Setterstrom as well as many nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours for John will be on Tuesday, March 12, from 12noon – 2pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield followed by Committal Services with Military Honors in the chapel of the Mass. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Main St., Agawam. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s memory may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-9959.
