Josephine T. Lentowski, 95, died on May 23, 2018 at Chicopee Gardens for Nursing. Josephine (also known as Josie or Jo) was born in Wilbraham, MA to the late Thomas and Victoria (Swiatek) Pasierb, who emigrated to Massachusetts from the Austrian partition of Poland shortly after 1900. She was educated at Immaculate Conception School (class of ’37) and also spent one year at Classical Jr. High and one year at Springfield Trade School. Josie worked for Patricia’s Undergarments, Ludlow Mills, Cromwell Mills and Smith & Wesson, from which she retired in 1984.
Josie was a lifelong Roman Catholic. She was baptized and confirmed (with the confirmation name Teresa) at Immaculate Conception Church in Indian Orchard, MA. In 1949 Jo and Max Walter Lentowski, her husband of 35 years, were married at Immaculate Conception Church. In 1953 Max and Josie purchased a home in Ludlow and became communicants of Christ the King Church where Josie participated in two sodalities.
Josephine was predeceased by her husband Max (1984), her siblings Casimir Pasierb, John Pasierb, Frances Majka, Helen Bieda, Anna Dargis and Sophie Almeida and all of their spouses. She leaves her daughter and son-in-law Teresa and Gregory Colelli, her son Michael Lentowski, her granddaughter Heather Barton, great-grandchildren Noah and Anika Barton and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 with a Calling Hour from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Indian Orchard and proceeding to Christ the King Church for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Aloysius Cemetery.
