Kenneth J. Blanchard, 63, of Chicopee died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. Born in Providence on October 27, 1953, he was the son of the late Frederick and Dorothy (Perry) Blanchard. Ken was raised in Springfield, and had lived in Chicopee for the past 20 years. He was a Marine Corps veteran and served from 1971-1974 during the Vietnam War. Ken was a long-time employee of Peter Pan Bus Lines where he worked as a driver, and later in sales for Chicopee Provisions. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #625 in Chicopee. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing and having an ice cold Bud.

The brother of the late Frederick Blanchard, Jr., Ken is survived by his two sons, Frederick Blanchard and his wife Stephanie of Springfield, and Christopher Blanchard and his wife Crystal of West Springfield, four grandchildren, Brittany, Naomi, Sierra and Jackson, his sisters, Judith Blanchard of Rhode Island and Cynthia Blanchard of Springfield, one brother, Thomas Blanchard and his wife Caroline of Agawam, as well as many nieces and nephews and his long-time companion, Linda Walker of Chicopee.  

A Committal Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 1pm in the chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, MA, 01001. There are no calling hours. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA, 01701.
