Mabel Ann (Zajchowski) Chrusciel, 98, of Wilbraham, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018. Born in Chicopee on Aug. 30, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Antoni & Marya (Biskup) Zajchowski. Raised in Chicopee, Mabel was a 1938 graduate of Chicopee High School. She lived in Springfield for most of her life until she moved to Wilbraham 15 years ago. When Mabel was younger she worked for Savage Arms and Eastern Etching, then later on at Bradlees for 25 years until she retired in 1984. She was a woman of deep faith who watched mass on television every day. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and belonged to the Holy Rosary Sodality. She also served as a volunteer pierogi maker for many church fairs and functions. Mabel loved doing crossword puzzles, knitting, crocheting, reading (especially Danielle Steel) and never missed Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy.
She was the wife of the late Stanley Chrusciel, and sister of the late Anna Rumburd, Catherine Sypek, and Walter, Theodore, Thaddeus and Stanley Zajchowski. She is survived by a son, Robert Chrusciel and his wife Linda of Norwood, a daughter, Chris Stadnicki and her husband Bryan of Wilbraham, as well as her three beloved grandchildren, Daniel Chrusciel, and Andrew and Sara Stadnicki, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mabel will be on Tuesday, Nov. 20, with Calling Hours from 9am – 10:30am at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield followed by a Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church at 11am and burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
