Paul A. Frodema, 59, of Springfield, died Tuesday Sept. 24th, surrounded by the love of his family, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Born and raised in Springfield, Paul attended Frederick Harris and Kiley Jr. High Schools and was a 1978 graduate of Cathedral High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Westfield State College. Paul was a 35 year employee of the Mass Dept. of Youth Services and cared very much for all the kids he worked with there.
Growing up in East Forest Park, he played baseball and basketball at Nathan Bill Park, and enjoyed spending time after hours at this park with friends during high school. Paul was generous to a fault and had a sharp sense of humor, enjoying surprising people with his witty jabs. If you had Paul as a friend you were very lucky!
He is predeceased by his parents Henry and Mary Frodema. Paul leaves: his sweetheart and fiancé Barbara Mercieri whom he loved very much; his brothers: Peter and wife Michele, Tommy and wife Kathy, Mark and wife Colleen, Dennis and wife Julie, and his sister Ellen Frodema Kreshpane; his aunt Lois Castelli, and the Castelli cousins; his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, also his many friends and co-workers.
