Obituary

Stefan Frank Misiaszek, 96, passed away on December 12, 2019. He was a lifelong resident of Wilbraham, and a faithful parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church. He was the son of the late Michalina Kszton and Franciszek Misiaszek. He graduated from Trade High School where he learned his machining skills. He enlisted in the Army in 1942, achieving the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant and served in the European Theater during World War II. As the war ended, he was given a final assignment to set up a machine shop in Fukushima, Japan before he returned home. He received several medals for his service. After the war, he married the love of his life, the late Veronica Bernat Misiaszek, and they raised four children in Wilbraham.

He was employed as a machinist by Crane Co (formerly Chapman Valve). He also built homes with his cousin Joe Pagos. In the later part of his career, he was a greens superintendent at Elmcrest Country Club and Hampden Country Club. He was an excellent golfer and the winner of many tournaments. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and watching sports on TV. Stefan was a hard worker, proud of his Polish identity, loved music and had a good sense of humor. He also had a special talent for working with wood — making Adirondack Chairs, sunburst clocks, and small lighthouses, among other things.

He was predeceased by his sister Irene Misiaszek Kosakowski. Stefan leaves behind his children: Michael Misiaszek of Yarmouth, Massachusetts, Kathleen O’Neill of Ellicott City, Maryland, Elizabeth Misiaszek of Marlow, New Hampshire, and Ann Misiaszek Sarnoff of New York City; his grandchildren Eric, Michelle, Scott, Jim, Kerry, Mickey, Rachel and Peter, and great grandchildren Will, Taylor, Jack, Nate, Brian, Kate and Max will deeply miss their loving Dziadziu. He will also be sorely missed by his many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
