William "Bill" Place Obituary

William Allen Place (aka “Buffalo Bill”), 84, passed away January 24, 2019 at home. He was born in Boscawen, New Hampshire on July 31, 1934 to the late Leon and Frances (Webster) Place. Bill was a lifelong Springfield resident. He served in the United States Army from 1960-1962.

An avid Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast, Bill loved going on motorcycle runs with his twin sons, friends and fellow members of the Vietnam Veterans’ Motorcycle Club, including their annual bike runs to Laconia, NH and Indian Lookout Mountain in Mayville, NY.  He especially loved participating in the annual Brightside Toy Run to benefit Brightside for families and children.

Bill leaves his beloved children: David Place and his wife Lindsey of Springfield, Dean Place of East Longmeadow, and Deanna Bourassa and her husband Mark of East Longmeadow; his grandchildren: Madison Place, Kiana Bourassa and Demitri Place and also many other loving family members and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 5:00-7:00pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Indian Orchard. Committal with military honors will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 3:00pm at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam.
