Alan A. “Eagle” Dargis, Sr., 70, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his devoted family. He had been lovingly cared for by his caretakers Nichole, Elaina, and Alan Jr. during his long illness. Born in Ludlow on April 29, 1955, he was the son of the late Charles and Anna (Pasierb) Dargis and a lifelong resident of Indian Orchard. Eagle was a 1973 graduate of Trade High School in Springfield. He worked at Rexcel in Ludlow and later spent many years as a chemical operator at Monsanto. A New England sports fan, he enjoyed cheering on the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He was also a big John Wayne fan.
He leaves his loving children, Alan Dargis, Jr. and Sharon Dargis, both of Springfield; his brother, Kenneth Dargis of Chicopee and his sister, Carol Chaves of Ludlow and his grandchildren, Nathan and Ryan Herring. He also leaves many nieces and nephews, other extended family members and many friends, especially his close friends Susanne Bettis, Douglas Kirk, and Cheryl Collins and his lifelong friends Bobby and Billy Remillard. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Robert and Gerald Dargis.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Avenue, Springfield. Calling hours will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at St. Aloysius Cemetery.
