Alan Perry, Sr. Obituary

Alan K. Perry, Sr., 77, of Chicopee, died of dementia on November 2, 2024 at the Center for Extended Care in Amherst. Born in Springfield on October 7, 1947, he was the son of the late Kenneth & Doris (Geoffrion) Perry. He was a 1967 graduate of the former Technical High School. He served in the Army National Guard for seven years with the rank of Sergeant.

Alan worked for his uncle at Walt’s Auto Trim, at Smith & Wesson as a gun assembler, for the Springfield Auxiliary Police walking the beat, at Dan Wesson Arms as a gun polisher, with the S.T.C.C. campus police, and at the Hampden County Jail (York St.) as a correctional officer, and as a court officer for the many districts in Hampden County until he retired in 2011 from Superior Court. He greatly enjoyed his job as a court officer, helping people and treating them respectfully. He loved the people he worked with and had the highest respect for the judges and all aspects of the courtroom.

Alan’s hobbies included refinishing old furniture and going to flea markets. He enjoyed his many Ford trucks and motorcycles that he used for road trips with his wife.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rose Marie (Gawlik) Perry; two sons, Alan Perry, Jr. and his wife Kimberly of Belchertown and Michael Perry and his wife Kristin of Ludlow; a brother, Richard Perry of West Springfield and a sister Donna Peach of Florida; and two grandchildren, Alan Perry and Madeline Grace Perry.
