On Tuesday, September 20.2022 Allen (Al) E. Tharp, 64, of East Longmeadow, MA was set free of his earthly bonds at home with Judi by his side. He is predeceased by his parents Clarence Tharp and Rose (Gregory) Stahl. of New York. He leaves behind his devoted partner of nearly 20 years, Judi (Lamoureux) Mancini and her four sons Christopher (Alissa) Mancini and their children, Abigail and Andrew of Watertown, NY , Richard (Alissa) Mancini and their children, Elena and Everett of Tolland, CT, Philip (Crystal) Mancini and their children, Liam, Ireland, Connor, Dawn and Jax of Glennville, GA and Ian Mancini and his fur babies, Brady and Lester of Springfield, MA. He also leaves behind two sisters Lori Kosick of Kirkwood, NY and her children Francis and Anthony, Susan Backo of Binghamton, NY and her children, David (Becky) Smith and their children, Aria and Marshall, of Mt. Holly Springs, PA, Christina (Alex) Lucas and their children Lena and Graham of Binghamton, NY and Kevin (Michelle) Smith and their son Killian of Baldwinsville, NY. Also, his uncle, Jim Gregory, aunts, Mary Race, Beverly Ottman, Brenda Rizzi and Martha Martin, and many cousins.
Allen was a 1976 graduate of Susquehanna Valley High School where he earned a letter in both track and football. Allen also earned his BA in English at SUNY Geneseo in 1981. He was employed at Broome Developmental Center for 10 years, was employed for 20 years with Catering by David and 20 years with the Binghamton Mets Baseball Team.
We would like to acknowledge Allen's closest friends James (Lefty) Eleftheratos, Jim Labelle, Bert Dorfman, Mike Woodruff, David, Henry, and Noah Stroka, Paul Lewis, Brett Harrison, Jim Weed, Scott Brown and Sharon Warnock all of which reached out to him in the last few weeks.
