Armand J. Deslauriers, 87, of Ludlow, was called home on Friday, February 16, 2018 in the care and comfort of his home. Born October 21, 1930, he was the beloved son of the late Armand P. and Mayford (Thompson) Deslauriers. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from the former St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School and Cathedral High School. He was a member of the Air National Guard in Westfield. He began his own business, Artisan House, as a remodeling contractor. He later went on to get his Bachelor’s Degree from Westfield State College and became the Head of the Carpentry Department at Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School in Northampton until he retired. He also taught at Chicopee Comprehensive and Granby High Schools. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Parish in Ludlow where he also served as a Eucharistic Minister. Following his retirement he started his own apple orchard, and was known as “The Appleman”. He also restored horse-drawn carriages, loved hunting, fishing and archery, and was a lifetime member of the Templeton Fish & Game Club.
Armand leaves his loving wife of 66 years, Marie “Doris” (Caron) Deslauriers, his son, Gerard Deslauriers and his wife Linda of Southwick, his daughter, Jeannine Duquette and her husband Robert "Duke" of Chicopee, his son Robert Deslauriers and his wife Carol (deceased) of West Springfield, his daughter, Therese Patterson and her husband Matthew of Shafter, CA, his son, Armand P. Deslauriers and his wife Michelle of Ludlow, his daughter, Marie L. Santos and her husband Michael of Wilbraham, his grandchildren Renee, Andre, Noelle, Monique, Rebecca, Brian, Rachel, Amanda, Nathaniel, Steven (deceased), Christopher, Jessica, Lauren, Katelyn and Briana, and his great-grandchildren, Austin, Ava, Alex, Quinton, Devin, Ezekiel, Lucas, Gabriel, Danielle, Noah and Baby Carr.
Funeral Services for Armand will be on Wednesday, February 21st, gathering at 9 AM at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Parish, Ludlow at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Chicopee. Calling Hours will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 20th from 4-8 PM.
