Barbara Ann Kenny, 76, passed away March 10, 2025. She was born in Holyoke on October 9, 1948 to the late Ernest and Ruth (Leonard) Kenny. Barbara was one of ten siblings, and her early years were spent in Springfield and Indian Orchard, where she created lifelong memories with her family and friends. For the past five years, Barbara made her home in San Marcos, California, living with her son.
A 1967 graduate of Trade High School, she was a member of the marching band. Barbara’s childhood with her many siblings revolved around the former St. Matthews Church. She was fun, brave, and spirited. A woman of immense creativity, her talent as an artist and painter shone brightly in her work. Barbara dedicated her life to raising her four children, always offering support, love, and encouragement. She was the glue that held her family together, selflessly putting others’ needs before her own.
She leaves her children: Kevin Kenny of Boise, ID, Deborah Shropshire and her husband William of Tenton, TX, David Francis of Kingsman, AZ and Derrick Francis and his wife Kristie of San Marcos, CA; her siblings: Bonnie Amtmann, Belinda Comette, Brenda Jablonski, David Kenny, and Bridget McCarthy; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with many other extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her siblings Beverly Kenny, Bernadette Gelinas, Doug Kenny and Ernest “Danny” Kenny, Jr, and 2 grandchildren, Randy and Xavier.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 11:00am at St. Aloysius Cemetery, Indian Orchard.
