Barbara Wilber passed away peacefully on November 3, 2021 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton. Born in Springfield, MA to Frank and Catherine Dyjak, Barbara was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church and attended Springfield public schools. Barbara worked for many years at Mass Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Springfield before moving to Norwell, MA with her late husband, Charles Wilber.
Barbara was a talented seamstress, an avid gardener, and a prolific reader. After moving to Southampton, MA, Barbara spread her love to children she would never meet by creating over 500 handmade “comfort dolls” for needy and orphaned children in Haiti. These were delivered directly to the children by Mustard Seed Missions, a non-profit medical team who provided humanitarian aid to the people of Haiti.
Predeceased by her sister, Laura Remiszewski , and her brother, Mitchell Dyjak, Barbara was like a second mother to her nieces: Catherine Lolos and her partner, Peter Ortega, Melissa Gazzaniga and her husband James, and nephews: David Remiszewski and his wife, Carol, and Robert Remiszewski; grand-nieces: Kate Gazzaniga, Sarah Gazzaniga, and Kiley Remiszewski. Her extended family and friends will all miss her dearly and cherish her memory. Per Barbara’s request, services and celebration of her life will be held privately by family members.
