Calvin C. Babbie, 70, passed away August 3, 2024 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ludlow on January 10, 1954 to the late Donald and Janet (DuBois) Babbie, he was a lifelong resident of Indian Orchard. Calvin worked as a printer for Hasbro/Cartamundi, his hard work ethic evident after retiring with almost 50 years of service.
He leaves his wife of 49 years, Sandra (Gladding) Babbie and 6 children: April Babbie and her partner Nicholas Montel of Indian Orchard, Brandy Babbie and her partner Victor Lozada of Indian Orchard, Tyler Babbie and his wife Shalaine of Shawnee OK, Ashley Norcott and her husband Lyle of Shawnee OK, Brett Babbie and his partner Yazmen Lopez of Indian Orchard, and Brittany Babbie and her partner Scott Mendenhall of Indian Orchard. He also leaves his brother, David Babbie and his wife Ruth of Sheldon, VT; a niece Sara Babbie-Schryver, along with 18 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, other family members and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents and a niece, Beth Babbie-Umland.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 4-7pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 11am at the funeral home followed by burial at St. Aloysius Cemetery.
