Charles “Charlie” L. Dezingas, 68, passed away July 10, 2024 in Westhampton, Massachusetts. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 18, 1956 to the late Charles and Norma (Huhtula) Dezingas.
Many people who had the pleasure of knowing Charles referred to him as “Chuck” to which he seemed to enjoy. Chuck had many challenges throughout his life; he moved to Belchertown State School at the age of 4, and resided there for 18 years. Chuck moved out of the state school at the age of 22 and moved into a home where he received support from DDS staff for the rest of his life. Chuck was a very unique person in many ways; he was heroically strong in every sense of the word. For the many people who came in and out of his life, not one will forget him. He was surrounded by many caring and dedicated staff and team members who worked to better serve him and understand his wildly different view of the world. Chuck was a lover of the outdoors, and was able to find a calm piece outside feeling the grass or the breeze go by. Although challenges continued to follow Chuck through the aging process he continued to persevere all the way to the end; baffling all of us with his resilience. Even in the last of his days Chuck was surrounded by people who cared deeply about him. We will remember your laughs and smiles, you will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024 at 10:00am at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay St., Springfield. Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services is entrusted with arrangements.
