David LaFountain Obituary

David M. LaFountain, 54, passed away October 31, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Springfield on October 9, 1970 to George and Mary (Minko) LaFountain, he was a lifelong Springfield resident and a 1989 graduate of Cathedral High School. David worked for several years as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and most recently worked as a sales rep for Grainger Industrial Supply.

He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, and was a passionate New England sports fan. He proudly embraced his Polish heritage, often sharing his love for Polka music. Annual trips to Hampton Beach with his family were a cherished tradition. These vacations were more than just a getaway; they were an opportunity for family bonding, creating lasting memories that would be treasured for years to come. David loved to entertain and had a special talent for bringing people together. He eagerly hosted holidays, birthdays, football games, and other special gatherings for his family and friends. His vibrant personality lit up any room he entered. His tenacity and determination were matched only by his strong convictions, making him someone who took on every day with a sense of passion and laughter. His larger-than-life presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

He leaves his wife of 28 years, Lori (Ordynowicz) LaFountain; his daughters, Danielle LaFountain and her partner Daniel Flint of Denver, CO, Emily LaFountain of Boston, and Grace LaFountain of Indian Orchard; his father, George LaFountain; and his aunts and uncles, Caroline and Steve Moore of Springfield, Christina and Tom Fredette of Brimfield, and John and Ruth Minko of Chicopee. He also leaves many other extended family members including his mother-in-law Susan Ordynowicz of Indian Orchard, his brothers-in-law Michael Ordynowicz of Indian Orchard and Kevin Ordynowicz and his wife Lori of Wilbraham, several close cousins, nieces and nephews, countless friends, and his furry grand-pup Fiddle. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary LaFountain in 2021.
