David L. St. Amand, 80, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away May 2, 2024 at his home in Springfield, MA. Born in Palmer to the late William and Irene (Vautraine) St. Amand, he was a lifelong area resident. Enlisting in the Army National Guard Reserves, David served his country with honor and distinction for many years. He attended Palmer high School where he played on the basketball team. David continued his education at Western New England College, obtaining a degree in Accounting. He started a long career at The Professional Auto Group, starting as their accountant and later becoming Vice-President and part owner of the company. Upon his retirement in 1995, David embarked on a new chapter, guided by his love of gardening. Earning a certificate as a Master Gardener from UMass, he channeled his passion into volunteer work at local nursing homes, Forest Park, and various establishments. At home, David's yard and garden were a testament to his green thumb and dedication, receiving many compliments on his meticulous work. David enjoyed many summers at the family cottage at Lake George in Wales, MA where he fished and relished the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan (St. Pierre) St. Amand; his sons, Robert M. (Nancy), Michael J. (Lisa), and Thomas C. (Naomi) along with eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He also leaves his beloved brother, Walter, of Wisconsin and many nieces and nephews. He was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
Services for David will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield with Calling Hours from 4-6pm followed by a Memorial Service at 6pm.
