Dean C. Mackie

Dean, “Deano” “Dreamer”, Mackie, (June 21, 1953 - November 20, 2021) passed away peacefully at home on Saturday November 20th, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones, after a long, hard fought battle with cancer. Son of the late Alexander Mackie Sr. and Barbara Mackie, he is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Kathleen Mackie. He leaves behind his son, Jamie Mackie and his wife Kristin, along with their children, Isabelle and Grayson Mackie, as well as his only daughter, Courtney Mackie. He is also survived by DeeJay and Danny Mackie, Alexander Mackie Jr and wife Jean, Gene Mackie, and Kim Kurpaska and her husband Ed. Of most importance, he leaves behind his childhood best friends, Billy Marchetti, Bill “Doogle” McDonald, Dennis Davis, and “Red” Healy, who, with their constant support and love, along with the care of his wife and daughter, was able to be cared for in the comfort of his home.

Those who truly loved and cared for him, were able to see just how strong and resilient Dean was, even towards the end of his battle with cancer. Dean was a great man. He was known for his amazing work ethic which was demonstrated throughout his service of greater than 20 years at Springfield College in the facilities and campus services department. He had a great sense of humor, a kind and sincere heart, a deep love for the game of baseball, and a strong will. He will be deeply and sadly missed.
