Obituary

Dorothy “Dottie” Judith (Lasinski) Youngs, 95, of Belchertown, MA, passed into the waiting arms of her deceased husband, Albert C. Youngs, on April 23, 2023 in Northampton, MA. Dottie was born in Springfield, MA, daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Raczewski) Lasinski. She met her husband in High School and they married during World War II and shared 53 years together and were blessed with 6 children, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Dottie graduated from High School of Commerce in 1944.  She worked as an accountant and legal secretary for Strathmore Paper Company, 16 Acres YMCA branch, Arthur Rogers Attorney and Law offices for 15 years.  She worked in the Housing Court and retired from the Post Office in 1989. Dottie was a lover of music and started at the age of 4 singing in various events and shows. Her husband and she loved camping and traveled throughout Europe, Mexico, Canada and the USA. Dottie and her husband retired to Florida.  After her husband’s death in 1999 she returned to settle in Palmer MA. Dottie never met a stranger and will be remembered by all who knew her for her warm and loving heart.

Dottie was predeceased by her son William in 2018, her daughter Susan Bussing (Clarence) in 2023, and her brother Andrew Lasinski in 1989 and her best friend Irene (LaCourse) Willis. Dottie leaves to cherish her memories, her 4 children, Judith Kennedy (Lyle deceased) of Deland FL, Timothy Youngs (Christine) of Ludlow, MA, Wendy Chase (Roland) of Wilmington VT, Elaine Youngs-Casey and her significant other Joe Elliott of West Springfield MA,  10 grandchildren, 1 step-granddaughter, 18 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, along with many nieces and cousins. Special thanks of appreciation is extended to Nancy Zawalski who was such a help to her as well as a great friend. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to the charity of your choice.

Combined committal services for Dorothy, her late husband Albert, and her late son William will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023 at the MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam MA. William’s service will be held at 2pm followed by Dorothy’s and Albert’s service at 3pm. Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services is entrusted with arrangements.
