Eileen Jones Obituary

Eileen A. (Gosselin) Jones, 93, passed away February 27, 2023, with family and her faithful cat, Jethro, by her side. Born in Chicopee on September 22, 1929, she was the daughter of Ephrem and Jennie (Guillemette) Gosselin. In some languages the name Eileen must translate to loving, kind, and selfless, as those qualities described her perfectly. She loved music and camping and would always lead a tune around the campfire. Her love of music was a gift given to her by her parents and she did the same for her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and adored her family above all else. Eileen grew up in Chicopee, attended Chicopee High School, and lived and raised her family there for 60 years. She worked at Dielectrics and after 18 years of service retired and moved to Ellenton, FL, with her beloved husband, Jonny. She golfed, danced, sang, attended Catholic worship regularly, and was involved in countless volunteer projects throughout her time in FL. She returned to MA in 2018 to be near her family.

Eileen leaves a son, Lee Jones, and his wife Lynn of Longmeadow; her grandchildren, Timothy Jones and his wife Jessica of FL, and Meghan Jones of CT; her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Benjamin, and Mitchell Jones of FL; nieces Lisa Pandolfi and husband Tom, and Karen Uhlig; and nephew Michael Rivest and wife Kathleen, as well as other loving family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, John Jones, Sr., in 2000; a son, John Jones, Jr., in 2018; her sister, Vivian LaPerle, in 2022; and niece Denise LaPerle in 2018.

The family would like to thank Eileen’s dedicated caretakers: Joyce Downey, and the staff of Interim Healthcare, especially Alisha, Tatyana, and Vanessa, and also the compassionate staff at Baystate Hospice.
