Eleanor Bedard Obituary

Eleanor E. “Ellie” (Potito) Bedard, 81, passed away January 9, 2021 peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield, MA to the late Antonio and Jenny Potito, she was a long time Springfield resident and a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church. Ellie had several secretarial type jobs including her work at Hamilton Standard, Diamond Match Company, and Holyoke Card and Paper. Ellie worked well into her seventies, lastly working in the Longmeadow school system food service where she found such joy working with children. Ellie loved gardening, bingo, crocheting, and sitting on her deck surrounded by nature. Her most treasured past time was to spend time with her family.

Eleanor was the wife of over 53 years to the late David B. Bedard. She leaves behind her children: daughter Lynn Guidi and husband Bret of Wilbraham, son Paul Bedard and wife Andrea of Springfield, and son Stephen Bedard of Springfield and her beloved grandchildren (her babies) Gianna & Nicholas Guidi. Eleanor was 1 of 13 children and is survived by her sisters Millie Chechile and Dolores Simon and her brother Richard Potito along with many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Due to the current COVID situation, Eleanor’s services will be private at the MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery. Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services is entrusted with arrangements.
