Eleanor Jean (Cote) Cheney, 83, passed away at home on January 6, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield on August 24, 1937 to the late Raphael and Alice (Connell) Cote, she was a lifelong area resident and a 1955 graduate of Technical High School. Eleanor worked for many years as a supervisor at Michael’s Crafts in Springfield.
She was predeceased by her husband Daniel A. Cheney on October 21, 2015 and 6 siblings: Ralph, Edwin, Alfred, Geraldine, Anita, and Rita.
She leaves her children, Mary Cheney of Springfield and Daniel Cheney of South Deerfield; her granddaughter, Stefani Cheney along with her future son-in-law Oliver Pysz; a sister, Shirley Colapietro; her favorite niece Laurene Tourville; her best friends, Lois Day and Joan Roberts and her husband Art and her caring neighbors, Mary and Roger Dager and Mike and Barbara Sullivan. She also leaves many other family members, many friends, and her beloved pets Penelope and Thomas O’Malley and grand-pets Ella and Arya. The family would like to thank the staff at Baystate Hospice, especially Rose and Diane, for the caring support Eleanor received.
Private services will be held at the MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Agawam.
