Emerita (Lopez) Vazquez

Emerita (Lopez) Vazquez, 82, of Springfield, died Friday, June 16, 2023 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

Born September 22, 1940 in Cayey, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Eladio and Eladia (Colon) Lopez. Emerita lived in Puerto Rico until 1970, when she moved to Springfield.

The wife of the late Victor M. Vazquez, she is survived by seven children, Carmen L. Diaz of Ludlow, Victor M. Vazquez, Jr. of Springfield, Mayra I. Roldan of West Springfield, Reinaldo Vazquez Lopez of Springfield, Fernando Vazquez of Springfield, Wanda Vazquez of Holyoke, and Jacqueline Davidson of Georgia, one sister, Margarita Lopez of Puerto Rico as well as seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren , three great-great grandchildren and her beloved Pomeranian dog, Foxy. She was predeceased by a brother and two sisters. Generoso Lopez, Eugenia Lopez, and Vicenta Fonseca.

Emerita enjoyed taking care of her beautiful plants , taking walks in scenic parks and listening to music.  She loved spending time with her family and faithful dog Foxy . She would easily light up a room with her smile.
