A long time resident of Wilbraham, “Ernie”, 71, died unexpectedly on March 2, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center. Born Jan. 26, 1950 in Ludlow, he was the son of the late Paul and Eileen (Duffany) Douillard. Ernie was a very religious person and often talked about his trips to Lady of Fatima in Portugal. He was a past communicant at St. Cecilia Church and past member of the Knights of Columbus, 10195. Ernie worked for many years at Goodwill Industries. He had an impeccable memory and could remember dates and events over 50 years ago like it was yesterday! His favorite pastimes were crossword puzzles and watching the stars. He was an avid reader, especially cook books even though he never cooked! While Ernie lived a challenging and simple life with minimal means, he always donated to many, many charities to help people in need.
A resident of Indian Orchard for the past 10 years, Ernie leaves behind two brothers, Wayne of Wilbraham and Donald and his wife Tina of Springfield, and his good friend Matthew Villamaino of Wilbraham.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham on Wednesday, March 10 at 10am. Burial at Woodland Dell Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
