Evelyn Marie (Kennedy) Burke

Evelyn Marie (Kennedy) Burke, 86, of Ware, passed away on October 25, 2021 at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer surrounded by her loving family. 2 days prior, On October 23rd, Evelyn lost her beloved husband and best friend of 67 years, Charles.

Born in Springfield, MA on March 13, 1935 to the late Leon and Marguerite (Simpson) Kennedy, she grew up in Springfield and had lived in Ware for the past 36 years. She was a 60 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 277 in Indian Orchard.  Evelyn was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards, especially solitaire. Most especially, she loved the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Leon Burke and his wife Mary of Glendale, AZ; Charles Burke Jr. and his wife Barbara of South Hadley, Dennis Burke and his partner Gina Hristopouls of Agawam, Diana Adams and her fiancé Rocky Miller of Columbia, SC, Lori-Ann Richard and her husband Mark of Summerville, SC, and Barbara “Barbie” Bottums and her husband Jim of Littleton, ME; her brothers, George Kennedy and his wife Linda of East Longmeadow and Bruce Kennedy and his wife Rose of Agawam; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, along with many other family members and friends.  

  Calling hours for both Evelyn and Charlie will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 4-6pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 assembling at 9:30am at the funeral home and proceeding to the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam for committal services at 11am.
