Fern E. (Stetson) Gibeau, 90, entered into Eternal Rest on March 6, 2025 at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer. Born in Springfield on October 11, 1934 to the late Louis and Elise (Daury) Stetson, she was a lifelong Springfield resident. Fern worked as office supervisor for WSJ, retiring in 1995.
She is survived by her children, Toni Carole Lapointe and husband James, Laura Karen (Pelletier) Lander, and Michael Alan Gibeau. She also leaves 7 grandchildren: Monique (Pelletier) Falco and husband Dominic, Genevieve (Lapointe) Zyla and husband Matthew, Jeremy Lapointe and wife Heather, Jacob Pelletier and wife Amy, Christine (Lapointe) Bost and husband Shawn Flanders, Alan Gibeau and Alyson Gibeau and 7 great grandchildren Quintin and Damon Bost, Madison Lapointe Vore, Lindsey Mae Falco, Dilyn Flanders, and Erin and Meghan Lapointe, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lemie Gibeau and 3 sisters, Lillian Lacouline, Rita Stetson, and June Detata.
Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, March 23, from 2-4pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 24, assembling at 10am at the funeral home and proceeding to Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church, 405 Boston Road, Springfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Burial will follow at 1pm at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam.
