Fernanda (Martins) McCormick

Fernanda (Martins) McCormick, 79, passed away June 4, 2025 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born in Turquel, Alcobaça, Portugal on November 29, 1945, she was one of 13 children of the late Manuel and Amelia (Dos Santos) Martins. In 1957, she came to the United States, settling in Springfield. She retired from Carando Foods where she had worked for many years. Above all, Fernanda treasured her role as a mother, pouring her heart into her family. She also found great joy in traveling alongside her beloved husband, sharing adventures together.

She leaves her husband of 59 Years, Walter McCormick, Jr.; her children, Tracey LaRock and her husband Michael of Springfield, Lisa Lemon and her husband Scott of Springfield, and Walter McCormick III and his wife Maria of West Warren; 6 grandchildren, Nathan Dolan, Ashley Dolan, Lauren Lemon, Rachel McCormick, Erik McCormick, and Katelin Lemon; 6 great-grandchildren, Dakota and Patrick Parks, Cadence Boutett, Sophia Pretlow, Harley Dolan, and Anthony St. Amand; her siblings, Aurora, Orlando, Jack, Carmen, Maria Manuela, Nell, and Virgil and many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends. She was preceded by her brothers, Joseph and Vincent and her sister, Justina.

Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 2:00-4:00pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield followed by a Celebration of Life at 4:00pm.
